American Idol Top 10: Songs from the 21st Century

So tonight was “Songs from the 21st Century” night. What is that about?
- Lisa: “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson. OK. Stupid choice of song. You picked a song by the most popular AI alumnus ever? And then sang it off key and with absolutely no power? 3.75
- Kellie: “Suds in the Bucket” by Sara Evans. You can choose any song over a span of 6 years and you choose this? Looked cuter than usual, yes, but sang further off key than usual. 3.75
- Ace: “Drops of Jupiter” by Train. No no no no no, Ace. You have no edge. You pointed at your SCAR when you said the “scar” line??? The trembly ending… WTF?? And you sounded like crap. AND your hair was flat. Cheesiest. Performance. Ever. 3.5
- Taylor: “Trouble” by Ray LaMontagne. Hair cut so cute. Beautiful song choice, actually standing relatively still! Randy’s wrong. It’s nice to see him NOT jumping around for once. When Taylor sings, I CARE. Even slow songs, I pay attention. 4.75
- Mandisa: “Wanna Praise You” So SCREAMY! Yeesh. Simon nailed it with “Indulgent.” 3.75
- Chris: “What If” by Creed. Once again, indulgent. Still, he knows what he wants and he said in his interview that he has things OUTSIDE his comfort zone planned. Just not this week. 4.5
- Katherine: “The Voice Within” by Christina Aguilera. Wow,
indulgent again. I guess songs from the past 6 years are just indulgent to begin with. She was mostly good though, plus she’s gorgeous. 4.5 - Bucky: “Real Good Man” by Tim McGraw. I really do like Bucky’s voice, but I can’t get past the awkward body rhythm. 4.25
- Paris: “Work It Out” by Beyonce. Her giggle is fake. But was your version really different than Beyonce’s? 4.5
- Elliot: “I Don’t Wanna Be” with a funk twist. The arrangement really worked and Elliot sounded really good, but still, not as good as he has been. It’s nice seeing personality with his songs. 4.5
Best: Taylor. Worst: Ace. Going Home: Lisa.
