American Idol Top 4: Elvis Night

UPDATE: Oh My Lord, CHRIS is off the show!!!!!!! I hate myself for not voting. The guy who was sooo destined to be the winner is off the freakin show!!! CHRIS! NOOOOO!!!!!! Welp, long live Taylor!

So Elvis night? Are you BEGGING for karaoke?? What the crap? Maybe at the beginning of the season, but you don’t SAVE Elvis for so close to the end. Priscilla Presley and Tommy Mottola are the guests this week.

• Taylor: “Jailhouse Rock” He gets to dance and he is changing it up a bit. I’m actually amazed at how NOT cheesy Taylor performed this! Simon: “In the real world: That was terrible.” But come on! You’re begging for the comparisons. It’s not his fault it’s frickin’ ELVIS NIGHT. 4.25 “In the Ghetto” Tommy was very impressed with him and gave him some good instruction. He just has such a hard time sitting still. Sounds kind of like Vince Gill sometimes, but a little lower register. Randy: “Make that record.” Simon: “Perfect. You’re a semifinalist.” 4.75
• Chris: Boxer briefs, apparently. “Suspicious Minds” I knew he’d pick that. Tommy really loves Chris’s vocals, amazing even. The sunglasses make him look or behave like a blind guy. Of course that was perfect and awesome. Only a little not as exciting as it could be. Simon: “That worked.” 4.75 “A Little Less Conversation” I also thought he’d do this one! Ha! Tommy: “Chris will so pull this off.” Really picked up at the end. Randy: “HOT.” Simon: “Till the end it was a bit meh.” I think there’s a bit of truth in that. 4.5
• Elliot: “If I Could Dream” Tommy doesn’t have a lot of confidence in him, it looks like. You hate to say it, but Elliot’s style IS wedding singer. So enunciated. He’s got good excitement this time, and of course, perfect singing. Simon: “Best performance so far.” Nah, BUT since you have actually heard the song Chris sang, it seems old, while Elliot’s seems fresh. 4.75 “Trouble” Lots of bluesiness and attitude required. Tommy: “He has the right style of this.” Do you really believe he has a bad attitude? A bit of a stretch. OMG. He actually convinced me he IS evil! Awesome! Simon: “You deserve to go through to the next round.” 5
• Katharine: “Hound Dog” with a twist. Tommy is impressed with Katharine greatly. Ah, so they added “All Shook Up” to it. That was pretty dang nice. She really is so original and fun. Simon: “Like desperate theater.” 4.5 “Can’t Help Falling in Love” Tommy: “She can do incredible things with her voice.” Of course she was great as usual. Simon: “It was too much. You came in on a disadvantage and didn’t do so great.” Aw. 4.75

Hm. Well, that wasn’t nearly as stupid and cheesy as it could be. Not nearly as cheesy as the stupid Bill Paxton in Twister commercial for DirecTV. Ug.

Elliot really does pick the best songs most of the time, as does Chris. I thought for sure Elliot was going this round, but like Simon said, he deserves to stay. I think maybe Katharine deserves to go more. For the first time ever. Wow.
