Time For A Flux Capacitor

Delorean Time MachineBack in 1985, I was obsessed with Back to the Future — great concept and characters, well-crafted storyline, cool special effects, and the best-looking time machine ever created!

Well, the folks over at Delorean Motors figure that if you have a Delorean, you might want to turn it into a time machine. Well, duh.

On the website, if you type “Flux Capacitor” into the Parts Search field, you’ll see they actually have one. It’s part number 18851985.

Now, do a search for part number 19852015 and see what comes up. (Make sure there are no extra spaces after the number or it won’t work.)

The site will even let you add them to a shopping cart and go through the checkout process, making you create an account, enter your address, credit card information, and shipping preference, but stops short of actually letting you purchase the items.

Instead, you get this clever error message:

ERROR 1985: We don’t take money, we don’t take fame. You don’t need no credit card to ride this train.

Clever, but seriously a long way to go for a gag. (I like that.)

Of course, whenever I think of time machines, I think of Doc Brown’s Delorean…and then I think about this from the episode “Three Gays of the Condo” from The Simpsons:

Julio: Homer, weren’t you supposed to meet your wife half an hour ago?
Homer: D’oh! You guys don’t have a gay time machine, do you?
Julio: Yeah! It’s called “Grady’s Shoe Closet”!
Grady: Hey Julio? Ouch.

That’s 1.21 gigawatts of hilarity right there, I tell you what.
